Sikh Heritage Month was celebrated with religious traditional fervor and gaiety at Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Monday. Organized by the Liberal Sikh Caucus and the Canadian Sikh community, the event saw the participation of prominent personalities, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Carney lauded the "invaluable contributions" of the Sikh community toward the socio-economic fabric of Canada. He extended his greetings to the Punjabi diaspora and emphasized the importance of cultural diversity in the country.

The three-day celebrations concluded with the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, followed by Ardas performed for global peace and the welfare of humanity (Sarbat da Bhala). Following the religious proceedings, Langar (community kitchen) was served to the devotees and guests.

A highlight of the event was the screening of a documentary on Sikh heritage at the Canadian War Museum. Curated by Steven Purewal, the film showcased the historical and military legacy of the Sikhs, drawing a large audience and connecting the younger generation with their roots.

Lakhwinder Singh Uppal, representative of the Punjabi Health and Education Organization, briefed the media about the significance of the month, highlighting the role of education and history in community building.

The event was attended by several Members of Parliament, including Sukh Dhaliwal, Randeep Sarai, Anju Dhillon, Parm Bains, Ruby Sahota, Ikwinder Singh Gaheer, Sonia Sidhu, and Marc Miller. Other prominent attendees included Honorable Baljit Singh Chadha, Tarantej Singh Hundar, Joginder Singh Sidhu, Gurinder Singh Chahal, and Ajmer Singh Sandhu, among others.
