Vaisakhi spirit: Trucking groups organize community kitchen in Montreal
Maninder Montreal, April 16
To mark the auspicious occasion of Khalsa Sirjana Diwas and Vaisakhi, several prominent trucking and logistics organizations in Montreal came together to organize a grand Langar (community kitchen).
The event was organized through the joint efforts of the Simard CP Trucking Group, Simard CP Container Group, and the East West Punjab Trucking Group. Demonstrating the spirit of selfless service (Sewa), the groups set up a stall providing refreshments to the local community and commuters.
The Langar featured traditional Punjabi delicacies, including freshly made Jalebis, Samosas, and tea, alongside coffee for the attendees. The initiative saw a large turnout from the Punjabi diaspora and local residents, who gathered to celebrate the harvest festival and the founding of the Khalsa Panth.
Representatives of the trucking groups stated that the event aimed to promote the message of communal harmony and to share the joy of Vaisakhi with people of all backgrounds. "It is our way of giving back to the community and keeping our cultural traditions alive while being thousands of miles away from home," said one of the organizers.
The celebration highlighted the strong presence and unity of the Punjabi community within Canada's transport and logistics sector.
