New Delhi December 19 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- The UK’s Sikh organisation Sikh Youth has taken the initiative to launch a Sikh National Inquiry into the sexual abuse and mistreatment of Sikh Punjabis in the UK. They said that the Sikh community is today launching the Sikh National Inquiry into Rape and Gang Rape, a landmark, independent, community-led initiative that aims to document historical and current cases of sexual abuse affecting Sikh individuals and families across the UK. The Inquiry has been established to ensure that the voices of survivors, their families and those directly or indirectly affected are finally heard, acknowledged and recorded. For too long, many victims have suffered in silence, facing the barriers of fear, stigma, shame and lack of trust in existing systems. This inquiry seeks to provide a safe, confidential and culturally aware platform for individuals to come forward. The evidence gathered through this process will help inform and feed into national inquiries, policy discussions, and security structures, which will strengthen the call for accountability, transparency and meaningful justice. He said this is not about blame or division, but about truth, safety and preventing future harm. He said we call on members of the Sikh community – and anyone who has been directly or indirectly involved, including survivors, family, friends, professionals and community members – to take the time to contribute immediately. Your experiences and knowledge matter. Every testimony helps build a clearer picture of the scale, impact and patterns of abuse that should no longer be ignored. He said that this inquiry is an important step towards securing recognition, justice and long-term safety for those who have suffered or continue to suffer. It is also an act of collective responsibility, ensuring that future generations are better protected. Bhai Deepa Singh said that this participation is confidential, and all information will be handled with sensitivity and care.
