Appeal to all Panthic political and religious organizations to launch a big movement against the release of Sikh prisoners and the discrimination against them: Paramjit Singh Virji
New Delhi, December 12 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- On one hand, Balwan Khokhar, a prime accused in the murder cases of thousands of Sikhs in November 1984, was granted parole a few days ago, then yesterday Ashish Mishra, who is the murderer of some Sikhs including a journalist, has also been granted parole. Not only this, Umar Khalid, who is the prime accused in the case of more than 50 murders and more than 700 injuries during the Delhi riots, has also been granted parole. However, Sikh prisoner Sikh Bhai Amritpal Singh, who won more than two and a half lakh votes from Tarn Taran and became an MP through a public fatwa, is not being granted parole to participate in the proceedings of Parliament, while Rashid Latif, who is a public servant from Jammu and Kashmir while in jail, has not been granted parole to participate in the proceedings of Parliament. Those who became MPs through fatwa are being allowed to participate in the proceedings of Parliament by giving them the highest MP facilities. Sardar Paramjit Singh Veer Ji, head of Gurubani Research Foundation and former co-chairman of the Dharam Prachar Wing of Delhi Committee, said that this is not an old but a clear evidence of the discrimination against Sikhs in the present days. This proves that Sikhs are being punished for their 92% sacrifices for the country. Similarly, in June 84, the youth who fought against the military attack on the holy places of Sikhs, Sri Darbar Sahib, Akal Takht Sahib and other Gurdwaras by the then government, who have spent more than 30 years in various jails, have not been given even parole during any family troubles or joys, while those involved in the Godhra massacre, Malegaon blasts, UP massacre and Rajiv Gandhi's assassins have been permanently released after bail. This phenomenon is repeatedly making the Sikhs in the country feel that they are second-class citizens because even the law becomes silent when the name of Sikh is mentioned. Ram Rahim, who imitates the tenth Guru, who is serving life imprisonment for serious crimes, is given parole furlough every two to three months, ignoring Sikh sentiments. The Prime Minister of the country said on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji that some Sikhs who have been in jail for a long time will be released, but since no action has been taken on it, it has become just a press statement which has only increased the feeling of alienation among Sikhs. Various Sikh leaders including SGPC are repeatedly asking the governments to consider the issues of the imprisoned Sikhs and are writing letters, but no action is being taken at the government level and even the letters written have not been replied to. Therefore, we appeal to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi Unit President Paramjit Singh Sarna, all Damdami Taksal, Dal Khalsa, all Sikh Student Federation, all Sant Samaj, all Nihang Singh organizations, religious and political organizations, all Sikh Gurdwara Committees and organizations in Delhi, Haryana, UP and abroad to sit together and start a big movement for the release of the imprisoned Singhs, so that those who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of the nation can also be released, join the mainstream of society and spend the rest of their lives with their families.
