CHANDIGARH/SAS NAGAR, November 26:
In a significant breakthrough amid the ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order in Punjab under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police, foiled a major terror plot on Wednesday. Four operatives of foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were arrested after an exchange of fire near Steel Strips Towers on the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said the arrests were made following a swift, intelligence-driven operation. The police recovered seven .32 calibre pistols and 70 live cartridges from the accused.
The arrested men have been identified as:
• Harvinder Singh alias Bhola alias Honey (Rajpura, Patiala)
• Lakhwinder Singh (Rajpura, Patiala)
• Mohammad Samir (Rajpura, Patiala)
• Rohit Sharma (Rajpura, Patiala)
DGP Yadav stated that initial investigations indicate the accused were acting under the directions of a foreign-based handler and were planning targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala region. Further investigations are underway to trace forward and backward linkages of the module.
Providing operation details, ADGP AGTF Promod Ban said intelligence inputs had indicated the presence of suspects in a house along the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway. A joint team led by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar cordoned off the location. During the raid, the accused opened fire at the police party, with bullets hitting the bulletproof jackets of Head Constable Gagandeep Singh and Constable Gulab Singh. Police retaliated, injuring suspects Harvinder Singh alias Bhola and Mohammad Samir, before arresting all four operatives.
SSP SAS Nagar Harmandeep Hans, who reached the scene, confirmed that all four arrested individuals have criminal histories. He added that the module's further network is under investigation, and more arrests are expected soon.
A case FIR No. 345 dated 26.11.2025 has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at Police Station Dera Bassi.
