The 56th Punjab History Conference being organized by the Department of History and Punjab History Studies of Punjabi University has begun today. Dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. The inaugural session was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh. The keynote address during the inaugural session as the 'General President' was delivered by Dr., former professor of the University of California Santa Barbara, USA. Given by Gurinder Singh Mann.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said in her speech that the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib has given a big message of religious freedom and secularism to the world. She said that the unique martyrdom of Guru Sahib given for the people of other religions shows that a beautiful bouquet can be made only by understanding the importance of different types of flowers. She said that while we are inspired by this message of Guru Sahib's martyrdom, we need to be clear in this regard that no power can force us to be dyed in only one color.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh said in his presidential speech that an example like the martyrdom of Guru Sahib is not found anywhere else in the world. She said that this is the 12th program in the series of programs dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. He said that Punjabi University is trying to convey his great message to the whole world through various programs.
Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann, through his speech, shed light on the various aspects of Gurmat philosophy with historical references and shed light on its current status in modern times.
Head of the Department Dr. Sandeep Kaur, while talking about the main topic of the conference in her welcome speech, talked about the information available from historical sources related to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
Dean Research Dr. Ritu Lehal delivered the welcome speech of the inaugural session.
Dr. Daljit Singh made important remarks on this topic during his moderating.
During the inaugural session, the presidents of various sessions of the conference, including Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Jaspal Kang, Dr. Amandeep Bal, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur Dhillon, Dr. Jaspal Kaur Dhanju, were honored.
After the inaugural session, in the next session, Dr. Jaspal Kaur Dhanju delivered the 'Prof. Sita Ram Memorial Lecture'.
