Contest is with Veena Devi
Anant Singh, who is lovingly called 'Chhote Sarkar' (Mini Boss) by his supporters, is the Janata Dal (United) candidate in this Assembly election. He is being challenged by Veena Devi, the wife of Surajbhan Singh, who has been given the ticket by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Although Veena Devi is the official candidate in the electoral fray, the contest is widely seen by the public as 'Chhote Sarkar vs. Surajbhan'. Both Anant Singh and Surajbhan Singh belong to the Bhumihar community, and Bhumihar voters play a decisive role in Mokama. Surajbhan is prohibited from contesting elections due to criminal cases.
