New Delhi October 29 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- Pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice has announced plans to "cancel" Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh's concert in Australia on November 1, as the Sikh community observes the day as Sikh Genocide Remembrance Day. The move by the organisation comes days after Dosanjh was seen touching the feet of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is accused of "inciting a mob" during the 1984 Sikh riots. In a statement, SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu said that Dosanjh has insulted every victim, widow and orphan of the 1984 Sikh genocide by honoring Amitabh Bachchan. On 31 October 1984, "the Hindustani crowd was publicly incited by Amitabh Bachchan's genocidal slogan of "Khun ka badla khun", a call that unleashed the death squads that carried out the genocidal violence that killed over 30,000 Sikh men, women and children across India." Describing Dosanjh's scheduled show as a "mockery of painful memories", the SFJ appealed to Sikh groups and artists around the world to boycott the concert. In its statement, the SFJ accused Dosanjh of commercialising a month of mourning, saying that these painful memories are not for sale, and that Sikh genocide cannot be normalised through applause. The group said it would hold a Panthic rally outside the venue on 1 November, and wrote a letter to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, demanding Dosanjh's resignation. has been asked to explain his actions. It is worth noting that the highest body of the Sikh Panth, Shri Akal Takht Sahib, had officially declared the 1984 massacre as "genocide" in 2010 and designated November 1 as Sikh Genocide Remembrance Day. Dosanjh has not yet commented publicly on the controversy, he is currently on a world tour with several international shows until November. Meanwhile, Canadian Sikhs Bhai Narinder Singh Randhawa, Bhai Gurmeet Singh Toor, Bhai Manjinder Singh, Baba Avtar Singh Khaira and a large number of Sikhs from Jagdi Jamir have also called for a boycott of Diljit Dosanjh's program.
