In the film Dhurandar 2, the drug scene of the turbaned Sikh character should be changed, otherwise there will be legal action and protests: Gurmeet Singh Shunty

New Delhi, March 14 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa): Showing a turbaned Sikh character smoking or holding a cigarette in his hand is completely against the norms and principles of Sikhism. In Sikh etiquette, consumption of tobacco (Jagat Juth) is considered one of the "Bajjar Kurhitan". Expressing these words, Sardar Gurmeet Singh Shanti, National General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal, National Spokesperson and Former General Secretary Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee said that the sentiments of the community are being played with through the scene of the Sikh character being shown in the film Dhurandar 2, which is intolerable. He said that in Sikhism, hair and turban are a symbol of the Guru's blessing and purity. Smoking a cigarette by a turbaned person is considered a violation of the core values of Sikhism. Therefore, such scenes can hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community and can be seen as sacrilege of religion.  He said that if the evils of a character are to be shown in the film as per the demand of the story, then generally he is not shown wearing a turban or receiving Amrit, because the turban is a symbol of a high moral life. He said that therefore we have written a letter to the Film Censor Board demanding that immediate action be taken on this film and the scenes of drugs being shown in the hands of the Sikh character be removed. If the filmmaker does not agree, then the film should be banned. He wrote that if you fail in this, then large-scale protests can be held against the film, due to which the cinema halls can stop it from being screened. Along with this, we inform you that appropriate legal action will be taken against the filmmaker for playing with the sentiments of the Sikh community and a complaint will also be filed with Shri Akal Takht Sahib in this regard. He said that a copy of this letter will be sent to the Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, SGPC President, and the Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch of Delhi Police for appropriate action.  Finally, he said that the administrator of the Delhi Gurdwara Committee and the head of the Dharam Prachar Wing should have come forward immediately in this matter, but since their performance in every field is zero, it is shameful to remain silent in this matter.
