Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Surrey/Delta President Amandeep Singh Johal has failed to manage the administration, the congregation demands his immediate resignation

👉 A meeting will be held at Gurdwara Sahib Vikash on Sunday, March 29, an appeal to attend in large numbers

New Delhi, March 27 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- The main Gurdwara of Surrey Delta city, Canada, has come into controversy almost 2 years after the martyrdom of Bhai Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the former chief sevadar of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, and the demand for his resignation is gaining momentum against its current management, Amandeep Singh, and some of his associates, for failing to manage the administration. It is worth mentioning here that after the murder of Bhai Nijjar, Vice President Bhai Gurmeet Singh Gill and his associates had taken over the management in a proper manner during that difficult time and according to Bhai Nijjar's thinking, they were participating in every front along with the Sangat and the Panth and were making their due contribution. But after some time, a person who never even comes to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib was made so powerful by some suspicious persons that he started pushing every Panth lover out of Gurdwara Sahib in every way and started imposing a permanent ban on them. Whereas after he became the President, Gurdwara Sahib is not visible at all, due to which the protest increased and the administrative team was divided into two parts. Along with this, a large number of allegations have been made against Amandeep Singh, about which he is not giving any answer to the Sangat, due to which the protest has increased among the Sangat. The current president was repeatedly asked to renew the membership but he kept on delaying it every time and finally when the membership renewal started, it failed due to controversy, lack of impartiality and transparency which became a matter of serious concern among the congregation. The report presented in the AGM was rejected by the majority of the members. An assistant treasurer of the committee gave detailed information about the financial irregularities and governance issues. Another member expressed serious concern about the regular withdrawal of cash vouchers from the donation boxes (golak). The congregation present in the meeting had demanded a re-audit to get complete financial information, but the current committee under the leadership of President Amandeep Singh Johal did not take any action on it. In the last two years’ AGM meetings, bringing Guru Nanak Sikh School under Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib was on the agenda and is also recorded in the minute book, but in the 2025 AGM, it is again being shown as an independent organization and no monthly meeting has been held for the last 2 years. A Sangat meeting was announced to be held in February 2026 but it was later postponed. Despite repeated requests by the Sangat, the financial documents of the school are not being released. Letters regarding the issues of Gurdwara Sahib and the school were sent to the Society’s lawyer and president Amandeep Singh Johal on February 1 and February 16, 2026 and the Sangat was hopeful that these issues would be resolved soon, but despite raising objections in writing, the Society’s lawyer also did not respond. An important point in this matter is that one faction of the committee (Vice President Bhai Gill) is fully supporting the entire Sangat to conduct the membership process transparently and impartially, but the President and some of his fellow members are not supporting them in any way. It is worth mentioning that the term of the current Executive Committee has expired on 31 December 2025, due to which the Sangat faction now demands the resignation of the committee and handing over the management of the society to the members, so that the membership process can be started in a transparent manner and the election of the new committee can be supervised by a third party. A Sangat meeting has been held at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 12:30 pm, in which the Sangat has been appealed to attend in large numbers and give their suggestions. On this occasion, Taranjit Singh Dhugga, Gurbachan Singh Kahlon, Jasdeep Singh, Gurdeep Singh Avtar Singh, Sukhraj Singh Bal, Karnail Singh Rai, Raghbir Singh, Jasbir Singh Chatha, Jagtar Singh, Jasbir Singh Brar, Tarlochan Singh, Baldeep Singh, Bhai Dharam Singh, Jagpreet Singh Jagga, Kulwinder Singh Dhillon, Varinderjit Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh Gill, Mehtab Singh, Gurmeet Singh Toor, Gurjeet Singh, Avtar Singh Khaira, Rajinder Singh Nat and Baba Mohan Singh along with other dignitaries were present.
