New Delhi, March 29 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa): The 243rd Delhi Fateh Diwas celebrations at Red Fort by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee began last night and on the first day, a diwan was decorated at the Gurmat Samagam, in which prominent personalities including Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu attended. Addressing the event on this occasion, Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that our great generals Baba Baghel Singh, Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia achieved victory at Red Fort but did not commit massacre here nor did they create their legacy here, but they humbly worked for the Sikh Panth and did not harass the people here. He said that our leadership from 1920 to 1926 did five things, the most important of which was that the Sikhs got the democratic right to vote in the Shiromani Committee elections in a democratic manner and especially our sisters got this right in 1926 while the English women got this right to vote in 1927. He said that the leadership of that time served and did not lead and did not earn a name. He said that in 1917, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri built two schools in Sarhali, which is the largest village of Tarn Taran and one of these schools was a girls' school. He said that today we talk about women's empowerment but our leadership had built a girls' school at that time. He said that the leadership of that time did such great things. On this occasion, he praised World Bank President Sardar Ajay Singh Banga and said that parents should give good education to their children so that they can reach high positions like Sardar Banga. Addressing the function on this occasion, the Committee President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Sardar Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that Dasam Pita Sahib e Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji created the Khalsa in Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa, on the occasion of Baisakhi in 1699. He said that due to the immense blessings of Guru Sahib, today the representatives of the Khalsa Panth are earning a name all over the world. He appealed on this occasion that on the occasion of Baisakhi, the Delhi Gurdwara Committee is organizing a two-day function on 13th and 14th April at Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall in the Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib complex, in which Amrit Sanchar will be held on a large scale. He appealed to the Sangat to take Amrit in maximum number and become Guru Wale. He also said that when the Delhi Gurdwara Committee was celebrating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, then Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta had said that we will hold the closing ceremony on a bigger scale in November 2026. He said that we are happy that today Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the respect and esteem of the Sikh community has increased with Sardar Sandhu becoming the Lieutenant Governor. On this occasion, Senior Vice President of the Committee Harvinder Singh K. P., Vice President Atma Singh Lubana, Secretary Sardar Jasmen Singh Noni, Head of Dharam Prachar Committee Jaspreet Singh Karamsar, Baba Balbir Singh Nihang Singh Head and other personalities were present in large numbers.
