Sanyukt Kisan Morcha supports tomorrow's Bharat Bandh
Said- Protest, burn effigies of Modi and Trump, burn copies of free trade agreements
New Delhi 11 February (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- SKM has called on farmers to join trade union workers in the protest on the All India General Strike tomorrow on the demands of withdrawal of 4 labour codes, Electricity Bill 2025, Seed Bill 2025, VB Gramg Act 2025, restoration of old pension scheme, implementation of minimum wages for workers including scheme workers and other demands. The platform of agricultural labour unions and NREGA Sangharsh Morcha - NSM will also support and participate in the protests across the country. SKM calls on the people to oppose all the new attacks on farmers, workers and the common people by the BJP government. The Electricity Bill 2025 will increase electricity tariffs for farmers and domestic consumers and will introduce peak hour charges and smart meters. SKM is demanding a ban on smart meters and 300 units of free electricity to all as promised in the BJP election campaigns. SKM strongly opposes the VB Grama Nidhi Act, which removes the MGNREGA, which promises to provide employment to rural people as per the decisions taken by the Gram Sabhas, and the new Seed Bill, which allows MNCs to import seeds for free, charge at their discretion and black market seeds. Along with this, SKM opposes all free trade agreements as a blueprint of economic colonialism by denying the basic right of minimum wage to workers and minimum support price to farmers and the right to employment to unemployed youth. The Modi government has handed over India’s sovereignty and self-reliance to the United States. The Finance Ministry has asked the state governments to withdraw the bonus given to paddy above and beyond the limited SSP based on A2+FL rate, stop procurement and weaken the public distribution system under pressure from the US administration to avoid non-tariff barriers to import of American products.
He said the all-India general strike and protest movement on February 12 will bring together farmers, workers and all sections of people to build worker-farmer unity across India against the attack on their livelihood and right to live by the corporates. SKM appeals to all farmers to join this protest in large numbers, burn effigies of Narendra Modi and Donald Trump and copies of free trade agreements in solidarity with industrial workers against all anti-people, corporate government policies.
