Delhi SRB rejects Prof Bhullar's release again

New Delhi, February 9 (Manpreet Singh Khalsa):- Panthic lawyer Bhai Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that the Delhi government's Sentence Review Board (SRB) has rejected the petition for the release of Prof Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, who is currently undergoing treatment under police supervision at Sri Guru Nanak Hospital in Amritsar. He said that this shameful decision was taken on December 23. He said that under the leadership of Delhi officials, the SRB held a meeting on December 23 to consider the cases of 51 life prisoners, who had sought remission in their sentences. The SRB decided to release 26 convicts, including Prof Bhullar, while rejecting others. It is worth mentioning here that Prof. Bhullar has been serving a jail sentence for the last 33 years and most of the 26 convicts ordered to be released by the SRB have spent less than 20 years in jail. This was the ninth time since 2019 that Prof. Bhullar's petition has been rejected by the board. The next hearing of this case, which is pending in the Delhi High Court, will be on February 13.
