Following the instructions issued by the Punjab Government, the ADA Chief Administrator Nitesh Kumar Jain, IAS and Additional Chief Administrator, Inayat, PCS, and bringing it to the notice of the police officers of Police Station Kambo under the leadership of District Town Planner (Regulatory) Gursewak Singh Aulakh, the Regulatory Wing of ADA took action against the unauthorized colonies being built on the Amritsar-Fatehgarh Churian Road in villages Nangli, Muradpura and Bal Khurd of Tehsil Amritsar-2 and demolished the colonies.

While giving information, the Regulatory Wing informed that as per the instructions of the government, in order to control future development, notices have been issued under the PAPRA Act-1995 to the new unauthorized colonies being developed in villages Nangli and Bal Khurd and demolition action has been taken, as the owners of the said unauthorized colonies were violating government rules by ignoring the instructions of the government and the colonies were being developed illegally without the approval of PUDA and the concerned departments.

Apart from this, the unauthorized colony developed under the name The Urban Heights (AGM Heights Pvt. Ltd.) in village Muradpura had been demolished earlier also, but the colonizers had started development work in the colony again, due to which the newly done development work was demolished again.

He also clarified that as per the amendment 2024 of the PAPRA Act-1995, a person who demolishes an unauthorized colony can be punished with imprisonment for 5 to 10 years and a fine of 25 lakhs to 5 crores. Due to which the police department is also being written on the basis of revenue records to take necessary action against the owners of the land under the said colony and the developers of the colony. So far, the department has taken demolition action against a total of 47 unauthorized colonies. The details of which are available on the website of Amritsar Development Authority www.adaamritsar.gov.in for the information of the general public. Apart from this, a letter has been written to the police department to register an FIR against the colonizers who have cut down 33 unauthorized colonies and the builders who have done unauthorized construction and a letter has been written to the concerned Tehsildar not to register any documents related to the registration or sale of plots in these unauthorized colonies on the basis of the PAPRA Act and to the PSPCL not to issue any kind of electricity connection. The wing informed that from time to time they are checking the chances of unauthorized colonies and constructions being developed in Amritsar district and issuing notices under the relevant act to stop the work and asking the concerned police station officer to take further legal action.

The regulatory wing of ADA appealed to the general public that before buying plots in illegal colonies which are not approved by the PUDA department, they should definitely seek the approval issued by the PUDA for that colony as per any advertisement regarding the sale of plots and should definitely read the details regarding unauthorized colonies available on the website of Amritsar Development Authority so that their property is not damaged and it does not become a cause of trouble for them. Apart from this, they also appealed that before carrying out any type of construction at any place in the district, construction should be done only after obtaining the necessary approvals from the PUDA department.
